On January 25, 2022, registered voters within the 12 sending communities of the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District elected to approve the borrowing of $317,422,620 to pay costs of designing, constructing, and furnishing a new school and related athletic facilities, located at 100 Hemlock Road in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
The results of the special election yielded an 82% approval rate which solidified the $140.8 million not to exceed grant offer from the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) in August 2021. The remaining cost of the project will be evaluated on a per student basis for each sending community through the issuance of a 30-year construction bond.
Financial approval of the project now allows the District to enter into the Detailed Design Phase which is Module 6 of the MSBA’s design and construction process. During Detailed Design, the project team will continue to develop the overall design of the project and will generate estimates to ensure that as the design progresses, the cost of the project remains within budget, For further information regarding the MSBA’s building process and path to project completion, please refer to the Overview Tab and then Process.
