As the Northeast Metro Tech (NEMT) Project continues through the permitting process, provisions for mobilization and early site work have recently begun. The project team has been working closely with utility providers for installation of 3 poles and relocation of the associated utility lines within the existing parking lot of the school. The installation of the utility poles and repositioning of the lines will allow for partial construction of the new driveway and for a secondary means of egress to improve the flow of construction traffic in and out of the project site. On Saturday, 2/11/2023, Verizon completed the installation of the poles which required drilling through subsurface ledge for two of the three locations as shown in the photos below. Gilbane Building Co (GBCO) will now coordinate with Verizon, Comcast, Wakefield Gas & Light, Astound, and Wakefield Fire Alarm for relocation of the overhead utility lines between 2/21/2023 through 2/24/2023.
In addition to installation of the utility poles and lines, GBCO’s fencing subcontractor has installed a portion of the temporary construction site fencing and signage along the existing parking lot and at Farm Street where the connection of the new driveway will be installed. A photo of the temporary site fencing can be seen in the photo below. As the NEMT project nears construction mobilization, additional temporary fencing and signage will be installed around the perimeter of the project site.
