The NEMT project team mobilized the project site and started construction activities within non-jurisdictional areas as the project awaits a Superseding Order of Condition from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. The project also received a decision from the Middlesex Superior Court denying an injunction and restraining order filed by an opponent group requesting a stop work order of construction activities.
Following denial of the injunction and restraining order, J.R. Vinagro, the sitework subcontractor for the project installed erosion control measures, completed tree clearing on the proposed hilltop building site within non-jurisdictional areas, installed a temporary infiltration basin for storm water management, and started installation of
temporary site fencing.
The existing school campus has also been reconfigured to allow for construction activities. Noticeable changes to the site include redevelopment of the existing baseball field for a temporary infiltration basin, new faculty/contractor parking lot on the baseball field, adjustments to the traffic circulation, and parking reconfigurations. With the alterations to the existing campus, Gilbane Building Company and J.R. Vinagro have posted signage and have dedicated personnel to direct traffic daily as needed.
