Construction activities within the non-jurisdictional wetland areas continue to progress. The project team continues to work through the DEP appeal process, and in the meantime, Maine Drilling and Blasting, the blasting subcontractor for the project completed blasting throughout the site in available areas with no blasts exceeding allowable thresholds.
J.R. Vinagro, the sitework subcontractor, continues with processing rock as needed to meet project specifications, and continues with rock removal and building pad subgrade preparation. The concrete subcontractor JL Marshall mobilized to the project site at the end of January, delivering forms and rebar required to construct the building foundations. Once footings were prepared by the sitework contractor in early February, JL Marshall began constructing forms for foundations details per the contract documents. Once the framework for the footings were complete, JL Marshall crews installed rebar prior to concrete placement. The project team is happy to report that the first concrete placement occurred on February 22nd 2024. All efforts above have been carefully coordinated between PMA, Gilbane, DRA and associated subconsultants including a full time geotechnical engineer and 3rd party testing agents to ensure that the work in place meets the requirements laid out in the contract documents. Looking ahead, the foundation subgrade preparation and concrete placements will continue through May 2024 and beginning in early June, structural steel will begin being delivered to the project site and the superstructure of the building will begin to be erected.
